Trey Lance has Quiet Night but Rejuvenating Preseason
Trey Lance finished his strong preseason with a 30-23 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, posting only five completions on eight attempts for 38 yards. The former first-round pick had a steady preseason overall, with 32 completions on 57 attempts for 334 yards and two touchdowns, and added 81 yards and another touchdown on the ground. He looked calm, confident, and poised in the pocket each time he stepped on the field, which is an excellent sign for a player who has struggled with consistency in the past. While he could still work on his accuracy, Lance's improved play and ability to run have unofficially earned him the number two spot on the depth chart, bumping him ahead of Taylor Heinicke.
