Jake Bauers to Begin Rehab Assignment on Friday
Jake Bauers (shoulder) said he will travel to Durham on Wednesday and will begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Nashville, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. The 29-year-old right-handed slugger is nearing a return to the big leagues, but with the way he's played this year and with how hot Andrew Vaughn has been of late, Bauers won't be guaranteed regular playing time at first base in Milwaukee when he's activated from the 10-day injured list. The former seventh-rounder by the San Diego Padres in 2013 is hitting just .197 (25-for-127) on the season with five long balls, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and five stolen bases. Meanwhile, Vaughn has really enjoyed his change of scenery after being acquired from the White Sox. He's gone 32-for-91 (.352) with seven homers and 29 RBI in his first 26 games with the Brewers.
