Left wing Matias Maccelli was traded by the Utah Mammoth to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick. Maccelli showed good offensive upside during his first couple of years in the NHL, but his career trajectory took a downward trend in 2024-25. He spent a large portion of the final few months of the season as a healthy scratch, finishing with 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 55 games. Acquiring Maccelli could be a shrewd move for the Maple Leafs if he can return to the form that earned him a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2023.--Taavi Pailk
