Antonio Gibson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Supplanted by An Elite Rookie
Antonio Gibson joined the squad in 2024 with hopes of taking over the lead-back role from Rhamondre Stevenson. Unfortunately, he had just one outing with over 100 scrimmage yards and finished the season with one total touchdown. He contributed more as a receiver, catching 23 passes for 206 yards, likely because the offense was searching for weapons, but it was a disappointing year. The team didn't do him any favors. They finished 30th in points scored, 29th in offensive touchdowns, and 31st in offensive yards. Those numbers project to improve with a stable coach in Mike Vrabel, a second-year leap for quarterback Drake Maye, and better talent on offense, including Stefon Diggs, Kyle Williams, and TreVeyon Henderson. The issue is that the last name, rookie tailback out of Ohio State, was drafted 38th overall as the third RB in a loaded class. Henderson will not only leapfrog Gibson on the depth chart but should also pass Stevenson, relegating the former Commander to the third spot. It's possible the second-rounder takes longer than expected to emerge, or injuries strike, but the most probable outcome for Gibson is a player you cannot rely on outside of best ball formats, and even there, his ceiling is capped.
