When is Coby Mayo getting called up for fantasy baseball? Read about Coby Mayo’s debut date and fantasy baseball prospect outlook for Week 4 of 2025.
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo has flashed elite upside at Triple-A but has yet to earn an extended look at the major leagues. While Mayo did earn a brief taste of the majors last summer, he had a limited role and struggled to find consistency.
Mayo was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster during spring training but fell short in the competition and was sent to Triple-A Norfolk. Even though he had a disappointing start to the season, Mayo has begun to turn things around and is rounding into form.
Should fantasy managers look to stash the power-hitting third baseman? Let's dive in!
Coby Mayo Prospect Update For Fantasy Baseball
Mayo saw his struggles from spring training carry into the early part of the Triple-A regular season. During the first seven contests, the No. 13-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com held a .125/.267/.250 slash line with just one extra-base hit. However, since then, the power-hitting third baseman has begun to turn the corner quite quickly.
In his last 11 games, the 23-year-old has posted an impressive .310/.423/.619 slash line with four doubles and three round-trippers. During this stretch, he has only gone hitless in two games.

This is an excellent sign as Mayo is flashing similar upside compared to the .287/.365/.542 line he held across 89 contests with Triple-A Norfolk last season.
Coby Mayo Outlook For Fantasy Baseball
While Mayo has shown elite power upside at Triple-A at times, this has yet to translate during his first taste of the major leagues. Mayo made his MLB debut last summer but tallied just four hits (all singles) across a 17-game stint. During this stint, he generated a .222 xwOBA with a hefty 47.8 percent strikeout rate.
Additionally, there are other concerns about Mayo's playing time in the big leagues. Last season, Mayo had trouble finding consistent playing time, not only because of his struggles in the batter's box, but also due to the crowded Baltimore infield.
Similar to last season, several options in the Baltimore infield could limit Mayo's at-bats in 2025.
This season, Jordan Westburg has typically been deployed as the everyday option at the hot corner. When Westburg moves over to the keystone, Ramon Urias typically enters the starting lineup. While Mayo carries much higher upside than Urias, it may take an injury for Mayo to truly earn a full-time role in the big leagues.
As a result, he should only be stashed in deeper 15+ team formats for the time being.

Chandler Simpson - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues CALL-UP ETA: July ANALYSIS: Unlike many players currently in the minor leagues, Chandler Simpson has proven he can be a valuable fantasy player at the MLB level. In his time in the majors, he hit .285 with 19 stolen bases in 35 games. Unfortunately, being a valuable fantasy player […]

Brady House - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: The Nationals went viral on social media this week for making a fun call-up. They called up their bat dog from Triple-A. While this was very cute and should improve the vibes a little bit in Washington, I don't think Bruce the Bat Dog will help […]

Samuel Basallo - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: Samuel Basallo might be the best hitter in the minors right now, and he has catcher eligibility. What more do you need to know (I know catcher is super deep this year, but still)? Basallo has been an age-to-level monster for the majority of his pro […]

Andrew Painter - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: Painter's last two starts don't give a ton of confidence that he is ready to be in the majors. It may not even be before the All-Star break before we see him, but that does not mean we are in stash territory. The good news is, […]

Colby Thomas - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues CALL-UP ETA: July ANALYSIS: The A's continue to lose, and Colby Thomas continues to hit homers in Triple-A. The A's just got swept by the Angels, bringing their record to 26-44. While plays like Denzel Clarke's HR robbery can generate a spark for a team, the A's might need […]
