Who should I start for Week 16? Fantasy football outlooks for Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray, Sam Darnold. Our expert fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks.
We are only a few days away from fantasy football championship week. That means you can be sure that fantasy owners everywhere are going through their lineups with a fine-toothed comb.
Quarterbacks are always essential to a high-scoring fantasy week. Picking the right signal-caller can give your team the advantage you need.
Several quarterbacks that gamers should consider starting in Week 16 are Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray, and Sam Darnold. There’s a case to be made for each player, so let’s break down what to expect from each quarterback in Week 16.
Should I Start Aaron Rodgers for Fantasy Football?
Rodgers is coming off a three-touchdown performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

While that was good to see, it’s worth pointing out that it was against a Jacksonville defense that ranks dead last in defensive passing DVOA per FTN Fantasy. Despite the cushy matchup, Rodgers struggled mightily in the first half of that game and only completed 53% of his passes against a terrible defense.
The Jets face a Los Angeles Rams team that has also struggled to defend the pass, but they could have more success pressuring Rodgers than Jacksonville did. Rodgers also hasn’t looked like the same elite player we’ve grown accustomed to seeing, and it looks like Father Time might be taking over.
Still, it’s a good matchup again for Rodgers, but he has been difficult to trust. He makes for an okay play for gamers in need of a quarterback, but there are better options to rely on in an extremely important week.
Should I Start Kyler Murray for Fantasy Football?
Murray has been a bit of a disappointment this year after being a popular pick in fantasy drafts this summer. He has only thrown 15 touchdown passes and is the QB11 on the season.
However, he gets a fantastic matchup this week. Arizona takes on the Carolina Panthers and Carolina has struggled defending quarterbacks all year. They’ve allowed the sixth-most points to opposing quarterbacks per Fantasy Football Today and have also allowed the 10th-most rushing yards to quarterbacks, so this sets up very nicely for Murray’s dual-threat ability.

While he hasn’t had the year fantasy owners had hoped for, this is not the week gamers should bail on Murray. Start him with confidence as there’s a good chance he has one of his best games of the season.
Should I Start Sam Darnold for Fantasy Football?
Darnold has been one of the biggest feel-good stories of the year. He’s thrown 29 touchdown passes and is the QB9 on the year.

Minnesota’s offense gets a tougher draw this week as they go against a Seahawks defense that ranks 10th in defensive passing DVOA and has allowed the 11th-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Darnold has overcome several poor matchups this year to post strong fantasy finishes, so this is not necessarily a good reason to bench the seventh-year pro.
The reality is that Darnold has thrown multiple touchdown passes in 10 games this year and has proven he can do so regardless of matchup. Gamers can start him as a QB1 for the fantasy football semi-finals.
