Who Should I Start for Fantasy Football Week 16? Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims Jr.

Courtland Sutton - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Who should I start for Week 16? Fantasy football outlooks for Courtland Sutton, Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims Jr.. Our expert fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks.

The Denver Broncos will face the Los Angeles Chargers in a game that likely will have playoff implications. The Broncos are 9-5 and will attempt to fend off the 8-6 Chargers, who are fighting for second place in the division behind the Kansas City Chiefs, who have already locked up the division championship.

Playoff seeing still matters, and no team wants to see their bitter rival get a win, so each team has a lot to play for. The idea that teams will just not try because "they'll probably make the playoffs anyway" simply isn't true. So we should expect maximum effort from both teams.

Let's look at a trio of wideouts playing for Denver and see if you should start them in Week 16.

Should I Start Courtland Sutton for Fantasy Football?

Wide receiver Courtland Sutton is the WR12 overall on the year, so you're probably not benching him. We don't know why you would consider benching him. Perhaps no one would know why you'd bench him unless you have a loaded team featuring multiple WRs in the top-10 scorers this season.

ESPN analyst and former quarterback Dan Orlovsky had some interesting thoughts on what he wanted Sutton's usage to be like, and he made a great point -- the Tampa Bay Buccaneers threw the ball down the field with great success against the Chargers in Week 15.

You have to think Broncos head coach Sean Payton broke down the film and realized he should try to do the same thing. And Sutton is a great downfield threat, being an excellent contested catch, jump ball guy with great size and a big body. So yeah, you were starting him anyway, but there's a real chance he can have a good game.

Should I Start Devaughn Vele for Fantasy Football?

Vele didn't record a catch and was targeted just one time in Week 15. Over his past eight games, he's been targeted over four times just twice. He simply isn't a consistent part of the game plan, and it's hard to see that changing late in the season. He hasn't followed the career trajectory we typically like to see from freshman players.

WR Guru Matt Harmon had some interesting things to say about Vele -- it appears that he's best suited as a slot receiver. While we could do an analytics deep dive on the rookie, suffice to say that as his involvement hasn't steadily ticked up over time, he's not a startable option in the fantasy football playoffs.

Should I Start Marvin Mims Jr. for Fantasy Football?

No. He hasn't played more than 35% of the snaps in a game all season. He's not a starting WR for the team, and he's a huge risk to put in your lineups. Sure, the defense could bust a coverage, allowing him to score a long TD as he did in Week 13, but this isn't something you should count on.

You can count on him not pulling a Jonathan Taylor as he's crossing the plane of the end zone, but you probably can't count on him getting to the EZ in the first place. He's done that only twice all year.
