Fantasy Football WR Injury Reports: Week 4 Updates For A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Cooper Kupp, more

DeVonta Smith - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Fantasy football WR injury updates and reports for Week 4 (2024), as of 9/25. Includes updates on A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Cooper Kupp, and more.

Well, it wasn't as devastating as Week 2. But there are still a couple of high-profile injuries suffered in Week 3 which bear watching heading into the final weekend of September.

Let's look at the updates for some wide receivers and see whether they may play in Week 4.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Jordan Addison (MIN) Injury Update

Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell said the team is "optimistic" about wide receiver Jordan Addison heading into Week 4. Even if he's able to practice, Addison will likely take a questionable tag into Friday, possibly longer. Minnesota's WR2 is dealing with an ankle sprain.

Jalen Nailor has scored a touchdown in every game this season, taking advantage of Addison's absence. He'll be a popular waiver-wire addition this week but could lose value if Addison suits up against Green Bay.

Keenan Allen (CHI) Injury Update

Keenan Allen's heel issue is the biggest unknown in the league. Initially believed to not be a big deal, Allen has missed two games. It's concerning, considering a heel problem ended his 2023 season.

The biggest beneficiary in Allen's absences was tight end Cole Kmet. Kmet earned eight of his 11 targets from the slot in Week 3. He'll be a good option again in Week 4 if Allen misses another game.

A.J. Brown (PHI) Injury Update

A.J. Brown has missed two games in a row with his hamstring injury. Before Week 2, he told ESPN's Lisa Salters that he expects the hamstring injury to keep him out for "a couple of weeks." That could put him back into play for Week 4 against the Buccaneers, but he'll need to practice during the week.

The Eagles could also be without DeVonta Smith (more below) and will be down Britain Covey (IR, shoulder). If Brown and Smith can't play, Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley will be a two-man show for the Philadelphia offense.

Gabe Davis (JAX) Injury Update

Gabe Davis left Monday night's loss to the Buffalo Bills with a shoulder injury. He was in clear discomfort on the sideline. Head coach Doug Pederson considers Davis day-to-day.

Davis isn't worth a roster spot in most fantasy football leagues. The Jaguars offense is imploding and Christian Kirk reemerged as the team's top wideout in Week 3.

Tank Dell (HOU) Injury Update

With a blowout loss to Minnesota all but confirmed, C.J. Stroud was removed from the game early. The wide receivers, however, were not. Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell remained to catch passes from Davis Mills. On that final drive, Dell got banged up. Fortunately, it appears that he avoided a major injury.

Monitor practice reports this week, but Dell should be clear to play against the Jaguars. He remains third in the target pecking order behind Collins and Diggs.

Cooper Kupp (LAR) Injury Update

The belief was that Cooper Kupp would be placed on injured reserve following his Week 2 ankle injury. Kupp avoided injured reserve, but he's already been ruled out for Week 4.

He will likely miss a couple more games before returning to the Rams lineup. With Puka Nacua already on injured reserve, Demarcus RobinsonTyler JohnsonJordan Whittington, and Tutu Atwell will be the top wide receivers for Matthew Stafford again. The Rams relied more on Kyren Williams and the running game to top San Francisco in Week 3.

Joshua Palmer (LAC) Injury Update

An underwhelming season as the top receiver in Los Angeles is being made even worse with injuries. Joshua Palmer missed Week 3 with elbow and calf injuries. He did not practice the entire week leading up to the loss to Pittsburgh, meaning he wasn't close to suiting up. We're in for another week of practice report monitoring.

If Palmer does play, he's not worth a start. He's not worth a roster spot in standard-sized leagues. Justin Herbert reaggravated his ankle sprain in Week 3 and the Chargers have a Week 5 bye. Resting their franchise quarterback for one week, even against a division opponent, could be the best choice.

Deebo Samuel Sr. (SF) Injury Update

San Francisco's do-it-all wide receiver was diagnosed with a calf strain before Week 3. Head coach Kyle Shanahan says he will miss a few weeks. The expectation is that he won't be ready to suit up for Week 4.

Rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will also be inactive until Week 5 at the earliest. Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings (who exploded for 11-175-3 against the Rams) will be the primary wide receiver targets for Brock Purdy.

DeVonta Smith (PHI) Injury Update

DeVonta Smith exited the Eagles' victory over the Saints in the second half after a brutal hit that popped his helmet off and required Smith to enter the concussion protocol.

Smith did not reenter the game, meaning he was placed in the concussion protocol. Every concussion is different, but the odds are that Smith won't be available against Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Eagles have a bye in Week 5.

Adam Thielen (CAR) Injury Update

Adam Thielen will miss at least four games with a hamstring injury he suffered while catching a touchdown pass in Week 3. It's unfortunate timing for the veteran, who was enjoying the best game of the season with Andy Dalton under center instead of Bryce Young.

The earliest Thielen can return is Week 8 versus the Denver Broncos. Diontae Johnson, rookie Xavier Legette, and Jonathan Mingo will see an increase in targets with the 34-year-old sidelined.
