Fantasy Football WR Injury Reports: Week 2 Updates For Puka Nacua, Rome Odunze, Tee Higgins, Jordan Addison, more

Rome Odunze - Fantasy Football Rankings, wr, NFL Rookies, Draft Sleepers

Fantasy football WR injury updates and reports for Week 2 (2024), as of 9/11. Includes updates on Puka Nacua, Rome Odunze, Tee Higgins, Jordan Addison, and more.

A (borderline) first-round fantasy football selection is on the shelf one week into the season. Brutal.

Other big names are dealing with various ailments as we prepare for Week 2 of the NFL season. To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page. Let's look at the updates for some wide receivers and see whether they may play in Week 2.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Jordan Addison (MIN) Injury Update

It sounds like the Minnesota Vikings will be without their No. 2 wide receiver against the San Francisco 49ers. Jordan Addison caught three passes against the New York Giants before injuring his ankle. It's not the same ankle he sprained during training camp, so he's now working with two ankles that aren't 100 percent.

Jalen Nailor will move up the depth chart if Addison can't play. He's a speculative waiver-wire add, as he impressed in training camp, but it's uncertain whether Sam Darnold can support two wide receivers.

Keenan Allen (CHI) Injury Update

Keenan Allen departed the Bears' Week 1 victory with an undisclosed injury. It's logical to believe that it's related to the heel issue that popped up just before the regular season began. His teammate, DJ Moore, doesn't seem too concerned with his health.

It's worth noting that a heel injury cost Allen the end of his career-best 2023 season. The Bears will need Allen to be healthy because another top receiver on their team is expected to miss some time.

Marquise Brown (KC) Injury Update

Marquise "Hollywood" Brown is approaching his Kansas City Chiefs debut. Brown suffered a shoulder injury in the team's first preseason game and missed the rest of training camp and Week 1.

If Brown plays, it adds another weapon to an already outstanding Kansas City offense. It may not need him to defeat a struggling Cincinnati team that got run over by Rhamondre Stevenson and the Patriots.

Josh Downs (IND) Injury Update

A high ankle sprain took Josh Downs, a potential breakout candidate, off the field early in August. He missed Week 1 and head coach Shane Steichen didn't have an update on the wide receiver's status early in the week.

Alec Pierce took advantage of Downs' absence against the Houston Texans, catching three passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Ashton Dulin also caught a 50-yard touchdown. Adonai Mitchell missed a couple of opportunities to also have a big game. If Downs is inactive again, count on a few deep shots from Anthony Richardson to the other receivers.

Tee Higgins (CIN) Injury Update

A midweek hamstring injury took Tee Higgins out of lineups just before Week 1. There hasn't been a concrete update from the Bengals coaching staff since, but ESPN's Adam Schefter believes Higgins will miss a second game on Sunday.

If Higgins is down for another contest, Andrei Iosivas will slide into the starting lineup again. The Cincinnati offense looked out of sync with Higgins on the sideline and Ja'Marr Chase limited.

DeAndre Hopkins (TEN) Injury Update

DeAndre Hopkins played just a fraction of the Titans' snaps against the Bears while dealing with an MCL tear. He's fighting through pain and insisting on playing through the injury, rather than opting for surgery.

Following the game, Titans head coach Brian Callahan said Hopkins' role "will increase as he feels better." There's no way of knowing when that day will come. Hopkins is a bench wide receiver in fantasy football.

Puka Nacua (LAR) Injury Update

The biggest bummer of Week 1. Puka Nacua reinjured the same knee that forced him away from training camp. A PCL sprain is sending last year's breakout star to injured reserve. He will miss at least four games.

It's worth noting that the Rams have a bye in Week 6, so the earliest Nacua can return is Week 7. Demarcus Robinson will see an uptick in targets while Tyler Johnson fills Nacua's vacated snaps. Cooper Kupp could see 15 targets per game.

Rome Odunze (CHI) Injury Update

Rookie first-round pick Rome Odunze suffered a knee injury while blocking during his NFL debut. An MRI confirmed an MCL sprain.

It would be a surprise to see an active Odunze on "Sunday Night Football" when the Bears face off against the Texans. Hopefully, Keenan Allen is healthy enough to suit up, or Caleb Williams will struggle against a good Houston defense.

Darius Slayton (NYG) Injury Update

Darius Slayton found himself in the concussion protocol on Monday, a day after the Giants fell to the Vikings.

Every concussion is different. Sometimes players are back within the week. Others will sit for several weeks. Slayton's status shouldn't make much of a difference for fantasy football. Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson control the target share for the abysmal Giants' passing game.
