Hot MLB Prospects to Watch for Fantasy Baseball - Week 24 (2024)

fantasy baseball prospects MLB prospects rookies call-ups

Andersen looks at the top prospects coming off an impressive week in the minor leagues heading into Week 24 (2024). These MLB prospects may become strong fantasy baseball waiver-wire stashes or pickups.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We're heading into Week 24 of the fantasy baseball season. There were plenty of big plays and impressive prospect performances throughout Minor League Baseball during last week's action.

It's imperative to monitor the top fantasy baseball prospects who have turned heads thus far. The players listed here are not only coming off dominant weeks but have also impressed over the entire season. Don't be surprised when these exact names are painting corners, mashing homers, and swiping bags at the big league level soon.

Savvy fantasy managers looking for an edge in their leagues should certainly keep an eye on these players over the long haul, as they may prove to be excellent adds in no time.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Kumar Rocker - SP, Texas Rangers

Level: Triple-A
2024 stats:
8 G, 8 GS, 0-1, 31.2 IP, 1.71 ERA, 1.60 FIP, 13.36 K/9, 1.14 BB/9, 0.28 HR/9, .294 BABIP

Rocker is a former first-round pick who had an interesting introduction to pro baseball. He decided not to sign with the Mets out of college and instead found a deal with the Rangers the next year. The pact reunited him with his former Vanderbilt star teammate, Jack Leiter.

Rocker's stuff has been up and down since early in college, but we have to be optimistic about his fastball velocity (near 100 mph) and near-elite slider. He also has a changeup in developmental mode.

Last week, Rocker was promoted to Triple-A following a fantastic run at the Double-A level. In his first start with Round Rock, the hurler threw five shutout innings, allowing one hit and zero walks. He was dominant the entire way, striking out a whopping 10 batters.

Spencer Jones - OF, New York Yankees

Level: Double-A
2024 stats:
109 G, .258/.336/.438, 15 HR, 73 RBI, 63 R, 24 SB, 10.0% BB%, 37.1% K%, .402 BABIP, .349 wOBA, 119 wRC+

Jones is a former two-way prospect who decided to focus on center field at the professional level. He's generated plenty of buzz in the Yankees system with fans and fantasy managers alike itching for him to climb to the top of affiliated ball.

Jones has enormous power potential and could be a future Silver Slugger. However, he sacrifices his plate discipline for his pop, which is clear in his concerningly high 37.1 percent strikeout rate. Defensively, he has plenty of promise in center field, using his long legs to showcase plenty of range. His glovework has improved in the minors, perhaps even more than his bat.

Last week, Jones went 12-for-28 with one homer, five doubles, and two triples. He also drove in seven runs while stealing two bases. On a negative note, his discipline was still a glaring point of concern as he struck out 11 times while failing to draw a walk.

Moises Chace - SP, Philadelphia Phillies

Level: Double-A
2024 stats:
14 G, 14 GS, 5-3, 76.1 IP, 3.18 ERA, 3.17 FIP, 13.91 K/9, 4.48 BB/9, 0.71 HR/9, .303 BABIP

Chace is a young starting pitcher who was traded from the Orioles to the Phillies before the trade deadline. An international prospect out of Venezuela, Chace has started to break through in 2024.

The right-hander gets good velocity behind his fastball but has also generated plenty of swings and misses with his slider and changeup. Despite his high strikeout rate, we'd like to see him improve his control so that he can cut down on walks.

Chace took another major step in the right direction on Saturday, striking out 13 batters over six scoreless innings. He surrendered zero walks and one hit along the way.

Bryce Eldridge - OF, San Francisco Giants

Level: High-A
2024 stats:
99 G, .296/.381/.542, 22 HR, 86 RBI, 69 R, 5 SB, 11.7% BB%, 25.5% K%, .357 BABIP, .413 wOBA, 83 wRC+

Eldridge has blossomed into one of the better hitters in Minor League Baseball, demonstrating a terrific blend of power and contact skills. His wRC+ suggests he's a below-average hitter, but his home run total, K/BB ratio, BABIP, and wOBA tell another story.

At 6-foot-7, Eldridge has the potential to grow into plenty of power. He has solid bat-to-ball skills and has drawn more walks than you'd expect from someone with such a large frame and power profile. Defensively, he figures to play a respectable first base long-term.

Last week, Eldridge went 11-for-20 with five homers, eight RBI, four walks, and five strikeouts. His offensive production has been otherworldly lately, offering plenty of promise about his future as he climbs through the ranks of affiliated ball.

Jackson Baumeister - SP, Tampa Bay Rays

Level: High-A
2024 stats:
22 G, 22 GS, 3-3, 94.2 IP, 2.57 ERA, 3.14 FIP, 11.98 K/9, 4.47 BB/9, 0.38 HR/9, .284 BABIP

Baumeister was the Orioles' 63rd overall pick out of Florida State in 2023. He spent roughly a year in the Baltimore farm system before being flipped to the Rays in this summer's Zach Eflin trade.

The hurler throws an established curveball that is currently his best offering. It plays very well off his mid-90s fastball, though he's also capable of pairing the heater with a solid slider. He rounds out his mix with a changeup. Baumeister is capable of recording plenty of strikeouts but will need to cut down on walks before he receives a promotion.

Baumeister continued to make progress last week, allowing just one hit over seven scoreless innings. He struck out 11 batters while issuing zero walks.
