Gus Edwards fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2024). Should you start or sit Gus Edwards for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 14-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards is a solid RB3 option heading into Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, but his value is highly dependent on how much usage he gets near the goal line.
Edwards will likely get the early down work and will have the first shot to be the Chargers' top back, but he'll face immense competition from J.K. Dobbins and Kimani Vidal all season long.
Chargers OC Greg Roman calls Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins a true "team" in how they work together and says they have a great working relationship in response to a question about the splitting of carries.

Resilience is a key trait of Edwards' NFL career, though. It seems like every season he enters the year buried on the depth chart and then he emerges as a solid fantasy option. Maybe Edwards starting 2024 at the top of the depth chart in L.A. will result in his best NFL season.
It's possible, but for now, he ranks outside the top 20 options at running back for Week 1.
