In preseason fantasy football rankings, Trevor Lawrence was widely regarded as the eighth quarterback in the "Elite Eight" at the position. In reality, he's the QB18 through the first 10 weeks of the 2023 season.

The former first-overall pick has scored a touchdown more than once in just two of his nine games, both against the Indianapolis Colts. That's barred Lawrence from cracking the top 12 six times. Baker Mayfield has been a better option for fantasy managers!

With more turnovers than touchdowns, it's getting more difficult to trust Lawrence in the home stretch of the fantasy regular season.

What Did Trevor Lawrence Do In Week 10? 

Week 10 may have been the final straw. Following several weeks of disappointment, Lawrence came off the Jacksonville bye week and threw for just 185 yards, no touchdowns, and turned the ball over three times.

Week 10 was a microcosm of the issues plaguing T-Law. Upon entering the red zone, Lawrence is completing just 45.83% of his pass attempts. Four of his nine touchdowns have happened from within the 20. For comparison's sake, 15 of Russell Wilson's 18 scores have come when the field shrinks.

The stat is even more alarming when realizing that half of Lawrence's red zone touchdowns have been caught by wide receiver Zay Jones, who has played one full game this season. Calvin Ridley snagged a nine-yard pass in Week 1. The fourth score went to reserve tight end Brenton Strange.

Is the lack of a big target in the red zone Lawrence's biggest problem? Jones is possibly nearing a return from his knee woes but was also just arrested on a domestic battery charge. Evan Engram profiles as a red zone threat, but he's yet to find paydirt. Travis Etienne Jr. is finding the endzone with ease, so why would Doug Pederson alter a successful offensive attack?

Can I Drop Trevor Lawrence in Fantasy Football?

Trotting out Lawrence as a starting fantasy quarterback every week isn't leading to favorable results and there is now nine weeks' worth of a sample size. As the fantasy playoffs near, how can a manager rely on Lawrence to actually score more than once against a team other than the Colts? There are ample streaming quarterbacks to plug and play throughout the rest of the regular season and postseason.

Lawrence has just one plus matchup in the fantasy playoffs (Tampa Bay). Carolina can't stop the run, so the Jaguars will lean on Etienne. Baltimore is a lockdown defense in both facets of the game. Lawrence is droppable in single-quarterback leagues.
