A lot of the conversation about the top amateur golfer at Augusta National has focused on Vanderbilt sophomore Gordon Sargent. However, it was Sam Bennett that won the U.S. Amateur Championship and earned a spot at The Masters. In addition to showing he has the skills to win a big event, Bennett has some experience at elite professional events. In 2022, he missed the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and then finished T49 at the U.S. Open. Neither amateur is expected to contend, but at least Bennett has made the cut at a major championship.--Rob Rose
