Thunder Dan's top NBA betting picks and best bets for today's NBA games on 1/11/22. His free picks against the spread, teasers, parlays, and NBA player props.

It's another one of these "medium-sized" slates in the NBA today with eight games in the Association. That's a good bit smaller than we are used to for a Wednesday, but it also means a more balanced schedule on Tuesday and Thursday as a result, which I am okay with I suppose.

I'm only picking sides and totals in this article three days a week, so consider subscribing to my sports betting substack here as I put out some DFS stuff and props on most evenings from Monday through Friday, too. Props have been hot lately, too!

In this article, I'll be providing my favorite picks against the spread, game totals, parlays, and teasers for NBA games that tip-off at 7:00 PM EST on Wednesday, January 11th. Let's take a look at the games that I am targeting with wagers tonight in the NBA!

NBA Betting Picks: Against the Spread

Milwaukee Bucks (-2) @ Atlanta Hawks (233.5 total)

There aren't too many tight spreads tonight, and I am not all that interested in backing any big underdogs or laying double-digit points on favorites.

I'd rather take a shot on a live dog and the Hawks feel like a decent bet as home dogs here at plus money.

Atlanta has been an incredibly tough team to figure out this season and their nightly range of outcomes varies pretty greatly. But this is a team that has beaten the Bucks twice already in three previous meetings. They have had a few pretty solid quality wins lately (Sacramento and LA Clippers) mixed in with two losses to the Lakers (oof) and a few close losses to good teams (Brooklyn by one point and Golden State in overtime).

The Bucks just simply haven't been the powerhouse we expected them to be this year, and they're in the middle of a 4-6 stretch in their last ten games. That 30-point loss to the Hornets was probably a fluke, but it still proved that this team is certainly not invincible and that they can be beaten any given night.

The Hawks are still without Clint Capela, but Onyeka Okongwu, John Collins, and DeAndre Hunter have all stepped up in a big way. Until Khris Middleton gets back, Giannis and Jrue Holiday are going to have their hands full on a nightly basis trying to carry the load for Milwaukee. Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis are fine players, but Milwaukee just hasn't struck fear into the hearts of opponents. Their overall net rating of +1.6 is the lowest of any of the eight 25-win teams in the league.

The Pick: Hawks ML  (+115)

New Orleans Pelicans (+9.5) @ Boston Celtics (229 total)

As you know by now, I am a huge fan of the Pelicans and the way they play the game. Yes, they are down two starters (and two of their best three players) with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson out, but this team doesn't deserve to be 9.5 point underdogs to ANYONE in the league this year, even the Boston Celtics on the road.

CJ McCollum is playing on another level right now and the Pelicans are getting solid minutes from the rest of their role players, too. Jonas Valanciunas has stepped up and should be a matchup problem for Boston inside. The Celtics are still the class of the East, but I think New Orleans matches up pretty well and can match the physicality that Boston brings nightly.

Boston should win this game, but I do think the Pelicans can hang around and push them. They're +4.6 points ATS as underdogs this year (in 17 games) and I just can't get over how big this spread is, it really doesn't show much respect for what CJ and Jonas are doing or the depth that New Orleans has either. I'm backing the Pels with the points!
