Will Warren is a fantasy baseball dynasty waiver wire pickup for Week 9(2024). Read about Will Warren's season to date.
PROSPECT: Will Warren, SP, New York Yankees
ERIC CROSS' LATEST PROSPECT RANKING: NA
CALL-UP ETA: 2024
ANALYSIS: New York Yankees' No. 7 prospect Will Warren has had an interesting minor league career since being drafted in the eighth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. His career 3.96 ERA and 316 strikeouts in 61 appearances (59 starts) are certainly impressive. But the right-hander has struggled so far in 2024.
Back in 2022, Warren spent time in High-A and Double-A, where he finished with a solid 3.91 ERA and 125 strikeouts across 129 innings pitched. Then, last year, he had a combined 3.35 ERA with 149 strikeouts in 27 appearances (25 starts) in Double-A and Triple-A. However, the right-hander hasn't seen that same type of success in 2024.

Through eight starts at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, Warren has a 6.27 ERA across 37 1/3 innings pitched. The 22-year-old has also most noticeably struggled in his last two outings, giving up 15 runs (14 earned runs) in just 10 innings.
There's a lot that Warren needs to work on before he makes his MLB debut. There's a chance that he gets called up later this year for the Yankees. Nevertheless, the right-hander will need to surely improve on his early-season numbers before New York even thinks about bringing him up. He is a pitcher to monitor in deeper dynasty formats.
