Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The star running back had over 4,400 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns at Florida State.

Unfortunately, Cook only played four games as a rookie because of a torn ACL. However, the rookie running back had 74 rushing attempts for 354 yards and two touchdowns in those contests, averaging 4.8 yards per rushing attempt.

While Cook has struggled with injuries in his career, the star running back has made the Pro Bowl four consecutive years. More importantly, the star running back has been a consistent option for fantasy players.

However, Cook showed signs of regression last year. He averaged a career-low 4.4 yards per rushing attempt. The veteran running back also had only eight runs of more than 10 yards and 14 forced missed tackles in 2022, both career lows.

Meanwhile, the Vikings want Cook to take a pay cut. However, the veteran has refused to do that. While Minnesota waited until the seventh round to select a running back, that hasn’t stopped the trade rumors surrounding the former Florida State star.

Despite all the speculation surrounding the veteran running back, reportedly the Vikings are in no rush to trade away Cook.

Which Teams Would Be The Best Fit For Dalvin Cook?

There isn’t much of a market for the veteran running back, especially given his contract. However, the team most brought up as a potential landing spot is the Miami Dolphins.

Miami re-signed veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. this offseason. The team also used a third-round pick on Devon Achane. Yet, the Dolphins are reportedly still interested in Cook.

If the veteran joins the Miami backfield, it will be a mess for fantasy players. While the Dolphins could send Mostert or Wilson back to the Vikings in a deal for Cook, the backfield would still be a running back-by-committee situation.

Ideally, the best fantasy situation for Cook is in Minnesota. Alexander Mattison has never been a full-time starter. Meanwhile, Ty Chandler and DeWayne McBride are role players. While his days as an elite fantasy player are over, Cook still can be a low-end RB2 if he remains with the Vikings.
