Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 9:

Travis Hunter, WR, Jaguars
Trade Value: 40
ROS Rank: 58

ESPN's Michael DiRocco suggests that the Jacksonville Jaguars need to get first-rounder Travis Hunter more involved on offense over their final 10 games if they are going to be in the playoff hunt, and head coach Liam Coen hinted at a lineup shift coming out of their bye week. "We are going to play the best 11 [on each side of the ball] as much as humanly possible," Coen said.

It sounds as though Hunter is going to be a "significant player in the offense going forward." In the Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London before the bye, Hunter led the team in targets (14), catches (eight), and receiving yards (101) while playing a season-high 64 snaps. The former Heisman Trophy winner now leads the Jags in catches (28) and is second in receiving yards (298).

DiRocco doesn't think we should be surprised if Hunter "starts getting the WR1 treatment" in the second half of the season. How it will impact Hunter's role on defense is unclear, but this would be excellent news for Hunter's fantasy managers going forward.

Verdict: Buy low from a manager who thinks they're selling high, if you still have the chance.

TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots
Trade Value: 18.8
ROS Rank: 111

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was finally able to break through on the ground during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. Before this game, Henderson was held to 27 rushing yards or less in each of his last three games.

In Week 8, Henderson rushed 10 times for 75 yards in the win over the Browns. It was a nice outing for the rookie back who hasn't seen much success early in the season.

The hope is that this will lead to more carries for Henderson going forward. However, he'll still be stuck splitting up the carries with Rhamondre Stevenson, so his ceiling is limited.

Verdict: Buy for a fair value if  possible before a major second-half breakout occurs

RJ Harvey, RB, Broncos
Trade Value: 20.3
ROS Rank: 106

Denver Broncos rookie running back R.J. Harvey had the best game of his young NFL career in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, recording 51 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on eight total touches. Harvey had been held to 57 scrimmage yards and one touchdown over his last three games combined entering Week 8, so his outburst is a welcome sign for fantasy managers.

Still, there's reason to doubt that Harvey's big game is a sign of things to come. Veteran Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins still earned more than double Harvey's touches (17 to eight) against Dallas. Additionally, outside of a 40-yard run, Harvey recorded just 11 yards on his other seven touches combined.

The Broncos have a much tougher matchup in Week 9 against the Houston Texans, which may mean Harvey will remain tough for fantasy managers to trust as a starter.

Verdict: Buy for a fair value if possible, but don't overpay. J.K. Dobbins is still seeing more touches every week.

Tucker Kraft, TE, Packers
Trade Value: 30.3
ROS Rank: 77

Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft caught seven of his nine targets for 143 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's Week 8 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. His two scores came from 16 and 24 yards out, respectively, but perhaps his best play of the game was a 59-yard reception in the third quarter.

The 24-year-old was a main reason why the Packers were able to erase a 16-7 deficit and come back to win 35-25. After a highly successful showing on National Tight Ends' Day, Kraft now ranks as the overall TE2 in PPR leagues through eight weeks -- and he ranks first in terms of fantasy points per game.

Tucker Kraft is a must-start tight end in all leagues ahead of next week's matchup against the Carolina Panthers. If this target volume continues, he has a good shot at being the TE1 this season in all fantasy football scoring formats.

Verdict: You'll have to pay up big to acquire the PPR TE1 through the first 8 weeks of the season

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 9 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Christian McCaffrey, Tucker Kraft, Bijan Robinson, RJ Harvey, TreVeyon Henderson, Travis Hunter, James Cook. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
