Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 8:

JK Dobbins, RB, Broncos
Trade Value: 33.8
ROS Rank: 67

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins rushes 14 times for 81 yards while losing a yard on one catch on the day as the Broncos exploded in the fourth quarter, scoring 33 points in Sunday's 33-32 comeback win against the New York Giants. Dobbins has been able to showcase solid production for the Broncos' rushing attack despite lacking a touchdown in the past couple of weeks.

Rookie running back RJ Harvey was getting more work than usual early on in the game, but Dobbins stepped in to give the Broncos some sparks as the game went on, and he would eventually out-carry Harvey 14-4 on the day. In what could be a Week 8 shootout as the Broncos face the Dallas Cowboys at home, Dobbins should continue to provide RB2 value with upside.

Verdict: Buy for a fair value if possible, or sell-high to address team needs at other positions

AJ Brown, WR, Eagles
Trade Value: 62.6
ROS Rank: 26

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) was listed on the team's first injury report of the week with a hamstring injury and did not practice on Wednesday, according to the team. Brown's status for the Week 8 divisional rematch against the New York Giants this Sunday is now in question after he missed his first practice of the year due to injury.

The 28-year-old showed no signs of an injury in the Week 7 win over the Minnesota Vikings, playing 92% of the offensive snaps while going off for 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns on only four catches. It's unclear if this is a serious injury for Brown or if the Eagles are just giving him a maintenance day, but we should know more on Thursday.

After a slow start, Brown now has 10 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games. He had six catches for 80 yards on nine targets on Oct. 9 in the first game against the G-Men.

Verdict: Buy low if you still can

Breece Hall, RB, Jets
Trade Value: 59.3
ROS Rank: 31

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that running back Breece Hall (knee) is day-to-day on Wednesday as the team begins preparations to face the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. Hall, whose name has been thrown around in trade rumors with the deadline approaching, came out of the Week 7 loss to the Carolina Panthers with some bumps and bruises, but he should be fine to suit up this weekend against the Bengals.

The 24-year-old hasn't been awful this year as a runner, but the Jets' offense has been abysmal, especially in recent weeks. Hall just hasn't had any room to run, and the team's non-existent passing attack has been a big reason why. He had 11 carries for only 38 yards last Sunday, adding two catches for 14 yards. Hall should have more room to run against Cincy, but the Jets moving to backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor won't inspire much confidence.

Verdict: Avoid in trades, volatile offense and potential for trade

Rico Dowdle, RB, Panthers
Trade Value: 26.9
ROS Rank: 85

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Monday that he anticipates a continued workload split between his two running backs, Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle. In the two games that Hubbard missed with an injured calf, Dowdle saw a total of 61 opportunities, which he converted into an unreal 470 yards and two scores.

In Hubbard's first game back, the two saw a nearly 50/50 workload split, with Hubbard on the field for five more snaps than Dowdle, but Dowdle seeing 18 opportunities to Hubbard's 16. Dowdle was also the more efficient back on the day, averaging 5.3 yards per touch to Hubbard's 3.4, and managing a usable fantasy performance with his 96 yards.

For fantasy managers who had feasted on his last two games, it was surely a disappointment, but in the right matchup, both backs should provide enough of a floor to help navigate bye weeks and injuries from the flex spot, especially as Hubbard continues to knock off the rust.

Verdict: Sell high if you can, split backfield situation with Hubbard

Who Should I Trade For?

Week 8 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Derrick Henry, JK Dobbins, AJ Brown, Breece Hall, James Cook, Rome Odunze, Tee Higgins. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.

Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.

How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.

How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
