Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
Sam Darnold, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Fantasy managers were understandably skeptical as to whether quarterback Sam Darnold could follow up his outstanding 2024 season with the Minnesota Vikings this year after heading to the NFC West to play for the Seattle Seahawks.
Through six weeks with his new team, it's clear that the former third overall pick out of USC is picking up where he left off. The 28-year-old continued to play well in Week 6 against a ball-hawking Jacksonville Jaguars defense and finished just shy of 300 yards passing with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Darnold has latched onto star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba as his go-to target, and it's working. Since a mediocre 150-yard, no-touchdown performance in Week 1, Darnold has thrown for multiple touchdowns in five games and has gone 98-for-138 for 1,391 yards, 11 TDs, and three picks.
He continues to be aggressive downfield and should at least be rostered in every fantasy league as a high-end QB2 going forward. He'll really be tested in Week 7 against a Houston Texans defense that has allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing QBs through five games.
Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) remained a limited participant in Thursday's practice as he works his way back from the turf toe injury he suffered in Week 1. The 49ers have managed a 4-2 record in his absence, with veteran backup Mac Jones (knee, oblique) handling starting duties.
While Purdy is unlikely to return in Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons, his continued presence at practice is a positive sign for his recovery timeline. The 49ers are expected to remain cautious with their young signal-caller, but the door appears open for a potential return in the coming weeks.
Fantasy managers in superflex and two-quarterback formats should keep Purdy stashed, as his upside in a talented San Francisco offense makes him a valuable asset once he's back to full strength.
Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals
For the second straight day this week, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (foot) was limited in practice on Thursday as he tends to a mid-foot sprain, according to Arizona Sports' Tyler Drake. Murray suffered a mid-foot sprain in the Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans and was inactive in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
The 28-year-old may need to upgrade to a full practice on Friday to avoid missing a second straight game this Sunday versus the visiting Green Bay Packers, especially since backup Jacoby Brissett showed well in his spot start last weekend. Murray will be more of a QB2 for fantasy managers if he's able to start in Week 7, with top receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. (concussion) and Zay Jones (knee) nursing injuries that could keep them out against the Packers.
Scrambling and using his legs is a big part of Murray's fantasy appeal, so although it's not believed to be a serious injury, it's worrisome for his managers.
Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed 25 of his 34 pass attempts for 261 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 6 loss against the Carolina Panthers. The veteran quarterback had another productive game as he played turnover-free football and didn't even take a sack.
He now has a whopping 11 touchdowns and zero turnovers over his last three games. Not only is he the QB1 during that span, but he is also the top-scoring fantasy quarterback through the first six weeks of the 2025 season. Fantasy managers should continue to trust Prescott in fantasy football, as he has shown that he and the Cowboys' offense will rack up yardage regardless of their matchup.
Dallas seems to find itself in a shootout every week, which bodes well for Prescott's fantasy outlook -- and he should only improve when CeeDee Lamb (ankle) returns. Prescott is a high-end QB1 heading into Week 7 against Washington.
Michael Penix Jr., QB, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. completed 20 of 32 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 24-14 win over the Bills, adding two rushes for six yards. The former first-round draft pick has looked more confident in his last two contests (69 percent completion rate, 3:1 TD:INT) after posting duds in Weeks 2 and 3 (54 percent completion rate, 0:2 TD:INT).
Still, even though he's recorded one rushing score this season, the 25-year-old has gained just 37 yards on the ground through five games in 2025, so he does not have that weekly floor built into his fantasy value that so many other QBs have these days, currently ranking as the No. 27 QB in fantasy.
The University of Washington product will face a 49ers defense in Week 7 that is middle of the pack in terms of allowing fantasy production to opposing QBs, but proactive managers interested in a streaming option might look ahead to the following week, where he'll face a soft Miami defense that has been generous in the passing game, giving up the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.
