Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle) was officially limited in his return to the practice field on Wednesday, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Fellow wideout KaVontae Turpin (foot) also returned to a limited practice after missing the last two games. Lamb is practicing for the first time since suffering a high-ankle sprain in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears. While the 26-year-old is making progress, he's not a lock to return this Sunday to face the division-rival Washington Commanders.
With that said, the Cowboys are saying there is a "good chance" that the star pass-catcher will be back this weekend. Fantasy managers would love to see Lamb put in a full practice on Thursday or Friday. As long as Lamb's workload isn't limited if he returns in Week 7, he should be considered a must-start in fantasy lineups against a leaky Commanders secondary.
Sterling Shepard, WR, Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Sterling Shepard should be in line for an increase in workload moving forward, with Mike Evans (hamstring), Chris Godwin (fibula), Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot), Jalen McMillan (neck), and now Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) all injured and expected to miss some time.
Shepard remains one of the few healthy Buccaneer receivers, and his competition for targets includes rookie Tez Johnson, Cade Otton, and Kameron Johnson. Sheppard is the most proven and experienced in that pass-catching room, and heading into what is expected to be a high-scoring affair against the Detroit Lions (53.5 point total according to sportsbooks), should be a solid low-end WR2 play and prioritized on the waiver wires this week.
Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets
There was no sign of New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) at practice on Thursday, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Although the Jets aren't ruling Wilson out for their Week 7 contest against the Carolina Panthers, he's looking like a long shot to play this Sunday after hyperextending his knee in last week's loss to the Denver Broncos in London.
Previous reports suggested that the 25-year-old wideout could miss multiple weeks, so fantasy managers definitely need to move him to their benches. Josh Reynolds (hip) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday, and he figures to see a sizeable role increase going forward for however long Wilson is out. In addition to Reynolds, Allen Lazard (personal), Arian Smith, and Tyler Johnson will need to do more to help a struggling Jets passing attack. With Wilson likely to miss time, rookie tight end Mason Taylor could end up leading the team in targets.
Tyler Allgeier, RB, Falcons
Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier broke off a 21-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter of Monday's 24-14 win over the Bills, his third touchdown of the season. Outside of that electric play, the 25-year-old managed only 11 yards on nine carries (1.2 yards per rush), and he added one catch for six yards. The fourth-year pro has scored in three of the Falcons' five games, and even has more rushing scores on the ground than Bijan Robinson does.
Even so, it would be surprising to see him keep up this pace over the remainder of the season, having a previous career high of four rushing scores, and with him typically playing around 30 percent of the team's offensive snaps compared to Robinson's 70 percent or more. Still, for now, the BYU product has some Flex appeal in this offense. Just know that he put up less than two points in half-point PPR formats in the two weeks he didn't find the end zone, so there is a very low floor here, too. The Falcons will take on San Francisco in Week 7, a defense that has allowed the 21st-most fantasy points to opposing RBs.
