Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 6:
Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib) is expected to be available for Sunday's road matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jennings has been in and out of the lineup this season while battling through an ankle injury and other secondary injuries, but he's projected to gut it out in Week 6 against the hosting Buccaneers. San Francisco's offense still has a way to go before returning to full strength, but Jennings' return will also coincide with quarterback Mac Jones (knee, oblique) getting the nod to play, so they won't be without all of their playmakers.
With teammate Ricky Pearsall (knee) still sidelined, fellow WRs Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson will continue to see extra playing time behind Jennings. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 28-year-old eased back in.
Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White is set to make another start this Sunday versus the San Francisco 49ers. White made his first start of the season during last week's win over the Seattle Seahawks.
The 26-year-old rushed 14 times for 41 yards with two touchdowns. He also hauled in four receptions for an additional 30 yards through the air. White figures to remain a focal point on offense with Bucky Irving (foot), Mike Evans (hamstring), and Chris Godwin (leg) all expected to miss Week 6.
The Bucs really have no choice but to get White involved. He's a capable option in both the running and receiving game, which gives him borderline RB1 value for this weekend.
Matthew Golden, WR, Green Bay Packers
It's been a slow climb for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden to find fantasy relevance this season, but after the Packers' Week 5 bye, we could finally get some tangible results for Golden.
The Packers host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6, and Golden is coming off his best week yet, with a season-high six targets, plus five receptions for 58 yards against the Cowboys in Week 4. Not only did he have his most productive week yet, but Golden is also starting to see the field regularly, with route shares of 82 percent and 72 percent in his last two games.
In addition, Golden's first-read target shares have increased substantially, with just three first-read targets in the first two weeks of the season, but ramped up to nine in the last two contests. With the Packers seemingly building to a crescendo with Golden's week-by-week improvement, he's a big-time upside flex play for fantasy managers in Week 6.
Tony Pollard, RB, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard continues to be a solid contributor early in the season. Last week, Pollard rushed the ball 14 times for 67 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Pollard has rushed for 60 yards or more in four of his first five games of the season. The return of Tyjae Spears figures to slowly take away some of Pollard's value, but for now fantasy managers shouldn't be worried. Pollard has a plus matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders defense in Week 6.
He should be able to offer low-end RB2 value for this weekend. Pollard continues succeeding, so the Titans are likely going to continue feeding him the ball.
Geno Smith, QB, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith continues to struggle, watching his fantasy stock take another major hit after tossing multiple interceptions against the Colts.
Smith now leads the league with nine picks, a troubling trend that has tanked his reliability in all fantasy formats. With tight end Brock Bowers sidelined and the offense shifting focus toward rookie running back Ashton Jeanty, Smith has fallen to QB24 in overall rankings, rendering him unstartable in standard leagues.
While a Week 6 matchup against Tennessee's 21st-ranked pass defense might appear favorable, the Titans' opportunistic secondary--boasting a 10.9% turnover rate--poses a real threat to Smith's chances of rebounding. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere until Smith proves capable of protecting the football and reigniting an offense that has lost its rhythm.
