Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting for Week 14 SNF:
Jayden Higgins, WR, Texans
Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins has quietly built a fantasy starting role in recent weeks. In the past four games, Higgins has hauled in 20 of 28 targets for 200 yards and two touchdowns, including his career high in yardage in Week 13 with C.J. Stroud back under center.
While star receiver Nico Collins will continue to handle the bulk of the targets in Houston, Higgins has been a sturdy option as well. The Texans face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14, who just allowed big games to George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb in Week 13. Higgins is a low-end starting option against the defending AFC champions.
Woody Marks, RB, Texans
Houston Texans rookie running back Woody Marks (ankle) was able to practice in full on Friday and has been cleared to play on Sunday night in a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. Marks tweaked his ankle in the Week 13 win over the Indianapolis Colts but eventually returned to the game, and the 24-year-old's injury was never considered very serious, despite the fact that he did not practice on Wednesday.
Marks was limited on Thursday. The fourth-rounder has become a much bigger part of the Texans' backfield plan since their Week 6 bye, and he has out-produced and out-touched veteran Nick Chubb. Since the team's bye, Marks has seen double-digit carries in every game and has a total of 349 rushing yards and one touchdown on 98 carries, adding 12 receptions for 92 yards and another score. The Chiefs have allowed the seventh-fewest half-PPR points per game to RBs this year, but Marks' volume alone vaults him into low-end RB2 territory, especially with quarterback C.J. Stroud now back from a concussion.
Marquise Brown, WR, Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown scored his fifth receiving touchdown of the year in the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday, but it came on only two catches (two targets) and 20 yards. It seems like ages ago when Hollywood had 10 catches on 16 targets for 99 yards back in the season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The 28-year-old pass-catcher had at least five targets in the first five games of the year when Rashee Rice was suspended -- Xavier Worthy also missed two games with a shoulder injury during that stretch. Since Week 5, Brown has not been targeted more than four times in a game as he's been phased out of KC's offense. In the last seven games, he has 15 catches on 20 targets for 202 yards and four scores. In a part-time role for the Chiefs, we would recommend keeping Brown on your bench in deeper fantasy leagues against the Houston Texans and their top-ranked defense in Week 14 on Sunday Night Football.
Kareem Hunt, RB, Chiefs
Across 12 games this season, Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt has recorded 629 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns on 144 touches. While the 30-year-old's season-long numbers don't jump off the page, Hunt's work in recent weeks is more notable. He's earned double-digit touches in five straight games and scored five touchdowns in that span. Hunt saw a boost in playing time throughout November due to a knee injury to fellow Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco.
Still, in Pacheco's first game back in Week 13, Hunt remained the clear lead rusher and out-touched Pacheco 15 to five. Even if Kansas City works towards a more even split between the two backs as Pacheco gets healthier, Hunt has proven to be the team's trusted option at the goal-line. Hunt has earned 34 red zone snaps so far this season, compared to just 15 for Pacheco. Hunt profiles as a low-end fantasy RB2 heading into Kansas City's Week 14 matchup against the Houston Texans.
C.J. Stroud, QB, Texans
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud returned from his concussion last week against the Colts and led his team to a fourth straight win. After starting 0-3, Stroud's Texans are 7-5 and pushing for a playoff spot. In his return, he completed 22 of 35 passes for 276 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. In his nine games, he has racked up 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions. In their recent charge, though, the team has relied more heavily on the passing game, and Stroud has aired it out with 35+ pass attempts in each of his last three full games.
He and the Texans face another critical matchup this week on Sunday Night Football against the Chiefs. It should be a great game, and Stroud and the Texans have favorable home matchups against the Cardinals and Raiders after Sunday night's road showdown. Stroud is a fringe option in single-QB leagues and a strong second QB in dual-QB leagues, as he tries to guide his team back to the postseason again this season.
