Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 10:
Cade Otton, TE, Buccaneers
With his team dealing with multiple wide receiver injuries, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton seemingly had a golden opportunity to emerge as a heavy target-earner in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints. Instead, Otton turned in a modest performance, recording four catches for 40 yards on five targets. Tampa Bay will remain without Mike Evans (collarbone) following its Week 9 bye, but wide receiver Chris Godwin (leg) could make his return in Week 10 against the New England Patriots.
Star running back Bucky Irving (shoulder, foot) could also be back in the mix, which would likely take some short-area targets away from Otton. Otton should still provide a relatively stable floor for fantasy managers when Tampa Bay returns from its bye, but he may have missed his highest-upside window of the season.
Pat Freiermuth, TE, Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth scored his third touchdown of the season in Sunday's 27-20 win over the AFC-leading Indianapolis Colts. Freiermuth has gotten rolling a bit after a slower start to the year, recording at least three receptions in each of the past three games and scoring all three touchdowns. The 27-year-old leads the team in receiving yards in that time and ranks as TE4 in total PPR points (44.1).
It's fueled almost entirely by his five catches, 111-yard, two-touchdown performance against the horrendous Cincinnati Bengals defense on Thursday night in Week 7. The usage isn't there to justify Freiermuth all of a sudden jumping to TE1 status in fantasy. Freiermuth profiles as a low-end streaming option against the Chargers on Sunday Night Football in Week 10.
Tyler Higbee, TE, Rams
Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee continues to see a healthy dose of targets despite increased competition within his position group. Last week against the Saints, he caught three of four targets for 13 yards, and he salvaged his fantasy performance with a touchdown. He has 19 targets over his last four contests, as well as a touchdown in two of his last three games.
The 32-year-old continues to play north of 50 percent of the snaps, even as players like Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson continue to get involved. The Rams run plenty of two-tight end sets, creating additional opportunities for Higbee to get on the field. He already has the trust of quarterback Matthew Stafford, so as long as he continues to see a solid snap share, he'll remain a threat in the Rams' offense.
He ranks as a mid-range TE2 with streaming appeal ahead of Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Juwan Johnson, TE, Saints
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson has put together three strong performances over the last few weeks. On Sunday, Johnson hauled in three of his four targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Before that, Johnson had posted back-to-back five-catch games for the Saints. It's worth noting that the Saints traded wide receiver Rashid Shaheed on Tuesday, so Johnson could see more passes coming his way.
Johnson is worth rostering in most fantasy formats and is someone to consider as a streaming option for the Week 10 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
