Fantasy Football Drop Candidates
Read about fantasy football players to consider dropping for Week 16:
Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
According to the team, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) has suffered a torn ACL. Mahomes exited Sunday's loss to the Chargers in the fourth quarter after suffering a left knee injury. Following the game, the three-time Super Bowl winner underwent an MRI, which eventually revealed the extent of their injury. The team noted that Mahomes and the club are currently exploring surgical options. As a result, this will keep the 30-year-old quarterback sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 campaign and potentially part of the 2026 season.
Before exiting on Sunday, Mahomes went 16-for-28 with 189 yards, an interception, and added 15 yards and a score with his legs. For the remainder of the season, Gardner Minshew is slated to take over QB1 duties in Kansas City. He will carry mid-end QB2 upside in Week 16, facing a weak Tennessee secondary, playing in an offense with Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Travis Kelce.
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy tallied just two receptions and 22 yards off his four targets during Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 15. Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was under pressure all afternoon in Chicago, and the two have struggled to build a rapport since Sanders took over the starting position in Week 12.
Sanders did look for Jeudy once in the end zone, but Jeudy was unable to haul in this fantasy-salvaging pass, and the Bears defender came away with the ball. Jeudy and the Browns head back to Cleveland in Week 16 to take on the Buffalo Bills. Even though this is a neutral match-up for wide receivers, Jeudy remains a fringe WR3/FLEX option in deep leagues moving forward.
Devin Neal, RB, New Orleans Saints
Per the team, New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal (hamstring) is questionable to return for Sunday's home game against their division rival, the Carolina Panthers. The Kansas native picked up his third straight start in Week 15 with backfield mate Alvin Kamara (knee, ankle) sidelined again. However, he'd exit the contest in the first half after picking up 32 total yards and a touchdown on his eight opportunities (one reception).
For the time being, teammates Audric Estime and Evan Hull will divvy up the share of backfield touches in his stead. Hull has more total work on the campaign, although Estime has out-carried the former in each of their previous two outings.
Marvin Mims, WR, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. (concussion) has returned to Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Mims was being evaluated for a potential concussion but was able to quickly return to action. With rookie Pat Bryant (hamstring) unable to suit up this weekend, Mims is expected to continue to operate as the team's No. 3 WR behind Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin.
Mims immediately made an impact after returning, tallying a nine-yard reception on their scoring drive in the third quarter, which ended with Sutton bringing a 14-yard TD pass from Bo Nix.
Nick Chubb, RB, Houston Texans
As expected, Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb (ribs) will not play on Sunday against the visiting Arizona Cardinals in Week 15 due to a rib injury. Chubb injured his ribs in the Sunday night win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. The 29-year-old returned to a limited practice on Friday, but it wasn't enough to clear him to play this weekend against Arizona.
Even before his injury, Chubb had become a lackluster, low-upside RB3/flex option for fantasy managers as the No. 2 in Houston's backfield behind rookie Woody Marks. In his first year in Houston, the four-time Pro Bowler is averaging 4.1 yards per carry for 472 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 115 carries. Marks had a season-high 26 carries last week in KC and should be guaranteed another heavy workload in a great matchup against the Cardinals. Dare Ogunbowale figures to work as the RB2 behind Marks with Chubb out.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs has found it challenging to stay relevant in the Green Bay Packers' offense recently as the unit returns to health. Doubs was excellent earlier in the campaign, ripping off a string of viable fantasy performances as the only other option in the aerial attack aside from tight end Tucker Kraft (knee). However, the return of teammate Christian Watson and now Jayden Reed has hindered his output in that aspect.
Since Watson returned in Week 8, Doubs has hauled in more than two passes in a game only thrice, including outings with one and zero receptions. Moreover, the former is just 90 receiving yards behind him (542-452) despite appearing in six fewer contests. With Green Bay's receiving corps nearly at full strength, Doubs slides in the rankings and is a particularly risky asset for fantasy on a team with the fourth-lowest pass rate in the league (51.98%).
