BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Trey McBride's 2022 NFL Draft stock fell a bit--likely due to being smaller than average at 6'4 (yet 260-lb.) and thus lacking the red zone threat of more traditional TEs. However, if you caught glimpses of McBride over the past three years at Colorado State, you were probably pushing for your favorite NFL team to grab him on draft day. As it happened, he was taken in the late-second round by the Arizona Cardinals after a 2022 college campaign that saw him catch 90 passes for 1,121 yards and a touchdown.
The Cardinals have plenty of options all over the field for Kyler Murray to target in the passing game, and the presence of Zach Ertz was thought to make McBride a rookie non-factor. However, Kyler and the Cardinals are at their best when they mix it up on offense, and after seeing just six combined offensive snaps and zero targets through week three, McBride got in for 32 (42%) offensive snaps this past week against the Panthers, catching all three of his targets for 24 yards receiving. Trey McBride is a super talented pass-catcher, and if the plan in Arizona is to gradually increase his role as a receiver, he could make for a dangerous asset as a rookie TE in deeper PPR formats.
