BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: There have been a lot of moving pieces at the tight end position this season, not to mention the rotation that has already occurred at tight end for the Indianapolis Colts. At first, the main man on the food chain was thought to be Colts incumbent Jack Doyle, but then the torch was passed to Mo Alie-Cox after an injury sidelined Doyle following a mildly successful Week One showing. Then, while being used primarily as a blocker, the former VCU forward Cox began to slow down, and saw just a single target this past week as it was revealed that he is dealing with a knee injury. Then the Colts brought up former star Chicago Bears tight end Trey Burton, and the tide once again began to turn.
In Week Four against his former team, Burton caught two passes out of five targets for a meager sum of 16 yards. Then, as Alie-Cox was forced into a lesser role, Burton caught five passes out of six targets for 33 yards receiving in Indy's Week Five contest against the Browns, ranking second on his squad in targets and receptions to T.Y. Hilton, and ultimately seeing the field for 48% of his team's offensive snaps (61 total) over that two-game span. While Burton was sidelined for the majority of games for Chicago in 2019, he is still just two seasons separated from his 54-reception, 569-yard, six-touchdown season with the Bears in 2018, and though he is undersized at the position, his receiving abilities have already garnered the respect of tight end-friendly quarterback Philip Rivers. Even if Alie-Cox is able to return in full force, Trey Burton is a very interesting option for the position given the immediate success he found in the Indianapolis air attack.
