ANALYSIS: After competing for the starting job in training alongside Tank Bigsby, the Jaguars' game plan made it clear in Week 1 that Travis Etienne Jr. won the starting job.
During their victory over the Panthers, Etienne dominated the backfield as he ran the ball 16 times for an impressive 143 yards.
Through the air, Etienne added three receptions on three targets for 13 yards. The Clemson product saw 62% of the running back snaps, while Bigsby saw just 19% and rookies LeQuint Allen Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten saw just 20% combined.
Earlier in the week, the Jaguars opted to trade Bigsby to the Eagles for future draft capital, suggesting that Etienne is to be viewed as the clear workhorse going forward, while both rookies operate as change-of-pace options.
Facing the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, who struggled to contain rookie Dylan Sampson, Etienne carries high-end B2 upside. He flashed elite efficiency running in the Liam Coen system and could be primed for a massive bounce-back season after disappointing fantasy managers in 2024.
