BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
OWNED IN: 3% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I'm writing this while looking at the list of eligible fantasy quarterbacks in Yahoo. As many as 15 are rostered in 75% of leagues or even more. It's slim pickings when it comes to quarterbacks, folks, so don't get too mad at Heinicke making the cut and popping up in one of our weekly WW posts. Oh, and just in case, Taylor Heinicke wasn't that good in W1 (barely 10 fantasy points) but he absolutely thrived to QB1 levels of play in his Thursday Night Football matchup against Big Blue racking up a 21.0 FP-tally to the tune of 46 passing attempts. Not bad considering his unexpected (and forced) starting role after Ryan Fitzpatrick went down injured a week ago.
Those 46 passing attempts made for a fantastic outing considering what happened in W1 of the 2021 season: through TNF this past Thursday, Heinicke was one of only three quarterbacks to have a game with at least 46 attempts and a completion percentage above 72% along with Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins. Heinicke completed 34 of his 46 throws for 336 yards and a couple of passing touchdowns against just one interception. Rushing is not Taylor's bread and butter, though, so he could only add 4 yards on the ground.
We got to know that Fitz is not undergoing surgery, but rather rehabbing. Miracles ain't a thing, though, so he's still expected to miss around two months. That makes Heinicke more than a viable weekly starter in 2QB leagues and a spot-starter depending on the matchup for those in deep-1QB/Superflex formats. Terry McLaurin, Logan Thomas, and the eventually-returning Curtis Samuel (he was put in IR before W1) form an above-average receiving corps for Heinicke to benefit from.
