Ricky Pearsall fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2025). Should you start or sit Ricky Pearsall for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in all leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Mid-range WR2
ANALYSIS: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall flashed immense upside during his rookie season but struggled to produce on a weekly basis. Through the 11 games he played in, Pearsall eclipsed double-digit PPR points in four of them. However, he fell short of this mark in the other seven.
Despite this, with Deebo Samuel Sr. leaving for Washington, and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) slated to miss the first month of the season, Pearsall was set to open the 2025 season in a locked-in full-time role. In the season opener, the former first-round pick did not disappoint. Facing the Seahawks, Pearsall caught four of his seven targets and tallied 108 yards on four receptions.
This weekend, Pearsall could be in store for an even larger target share. Tight end George Kittle (hamstring) is on the IR, and wide receiver Jauan Jennings (shoulder) was helped out of practice on Thursday, which is not positive for his availability over the weekend.
While quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) is also not suiting up, Pearsall should still carry a high floor and ceiling with Mac Jones under center. Pearsall has a path to serve as Jones's clear top WR if Jennings is unable to turn the corner. While running back Christian McCaffrey will likely see a heavy workload, Pearsall could see double-digit targets in this contest.
He carries solid WR2 value with upside. However, there is some risk to his projection as Jones could struggle, as he has rarely shown much consistency over his NFL career. Despite this, his potential to see a massive target share gives him a safe floor to make him a WR2 in all leagues.
