High-Confidence Strikeout Picks
All odds were current as of 9:00 AM
Chase Burns OVER 6.5 strikeouts (-123 Novig)
We have to start with the best pitcher on the slate today, Cincinnati righty Chase Burns. The hard-throwing Burns has his prop set at 6.5 strikeouts again today, despite racking up seven or more strikeouts in his last three starts and six of his last seven.

Burns is at home and gets a matchup with a Royals team that has seen its strikeout rate climb lately. KC actually has the fifth-worst K% against RHP over the last two weeks at 23.9%, and they've been held to a wRC+ of just 59 over that stretch (third-worst in MLB).
My buddy Casey Wilson is convinced he should be the frontrunner for NL Cy Young, and while it's a crazy competitive race, he might be right - Burns has been THAT good.
Burns has his strikeout rate approaching 30% at 28.9% and an elite 15.2% SwStr%. His four-seamer/slider combo is one of the best in the league, and he's slowly starting to work in his changeup more often, too. I'm surprised we aren't getting more juice on this number today, but I expect the odds will only continue to shift towards the over as the day goes along.
Emmet Sheehan OVER 5.5 strikeouts (+112 DraftKings)
One of the other top pitchers on the mound today has to be Dodgers youngster Emmet Sheehan. The righty owns a nasty slider of his own and a SwStr% of 15.5%, which is even slightly better than Burns'.

Sheehan had a funky bad outing against the Padres two starts ago, but has been in excellent form otherwise over the last month, whiffing six or more hitters in five of his last six starts. He is on the road in Arizona tonight, where the Diamondbacks will provide a solid challenge, as they have a solid lineup and a relatively low strikeout rate.
However, Sheehan's stuff is good enough to get six hitters in just about any MLB lineup on any given night. These odds are too tempting for a pitcher of Sheehan's caliber. He managed six strikeouts against the Diamondbacks in his first start of the year in only 3.1 innings, and has been pitching much better lately. Smash the button on this bet now; the plus odds may not last all day.
