2 days agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel should be seeing his typical high-volume usage against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. So far this season, the 26-year-old has been an attractive fantasy asset. At the moment, he's fifth in the NFL in receptions and has been funneled plenty of short-yardage targets early in the year. Samuel's style of play makes him a great asset for fantasy rosters, as he offers a strong floor, especially in PPR leagues. Against a Dallas secondary that will be focusing on Washington's downfield threats, Samuel should be started as a solid WR2.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller

1 week agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel is in line to continue his productive stretch of performances. Through two weeks, the 26-year-old leads the Commanders in targets, receptions, and is tied for the team lead in receiving yards. Samuel is being utilized in a fashion that creates quick opportunities where he can accumulate yards after the catch. This usage is what makes him such an attractive fantasy asset as he's able to collect numerous receptions while utilizing his solid athleticism. The Commanders are facing a red-hot Philadelphia Eagles team this week that boasts two star cornerbacks in Darius Slay and James Bradberry. With those two covering the two downfield threats in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, Samuel should have another strong performance. Start him as a solid WR2 in Week 3.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller

2 weeks agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel had himself another strong performance in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions. The 26-year-old managed to put up seven receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown while also having one carry for 21 yards on the ground. Through the first two weeks, Samuel is leading all Washington receivers with 20 total targets. With that kind of usage, it wouldn't be surprising to see him as the top fantasy wide receiver in this offense, especially with his dual-threat ability. From now on, Samuel should now be seen as a receiver that can be started on a weekly basis, if needed.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 weeks agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel is in line to build on his strong Week 1 showing. After dealing with injuries in the 2021 season, the 26-year-old finally had a chance to show what he could provide for the Washington offense as he demonstrated shiftiness and an ability to create yards. The former Buckeye's usage looked similar to that of Deebo Samuel, as he saw plenty of passes near the line of scrimmage while also receiving carries out of the backfield. The Commanders are facing off against the Detroit Lions in Week 2, a team that allowed 455 total yards to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Against a struggling defense, Samuel could easily continue to showcase his multidimensional skillset as a solid flex play this week.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller

3 weeks agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel caught eight out of 11 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown, along with four rushes for 17 yards in Sunday's win versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 26-year-old had a strong performance as he showed his skillset as a receiver and runner. Coming off of a season where he rarely saw the field due to injury, it was nice to see the former Panther thrive in his first real action in some time. Samuel should be a popular waiver claim heading into Week 2, as his usage looked very promising. The former Carolina Panther can be used as a flex in deep-league formats in a plus matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. --Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

3 weeks agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel is set to return to the field after an injury-riddled 2021. The 26-year-old was dealt a bad hand last season as he struggled with groin and hamstring issues for most of the year. Now that he's been declared healthy, Samuel has a shot at returning to his pre-injury form. In 2020, the former Panther closed the season as the WR25 in Half PPR scoring. Samuel could quickly provide value as an early season waiver claim if he can stay healthy. Fantasy managers should not start him, but it would be wise to keep an eye on the sixth-year pro's usage in Week 1.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller
Share:
1 month agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel practiced extensively over the final two to three weeks of training camp and looks poised for a good season after an injury-ravaged 2021. Samuel played in only five games in his first year in Washington and caught six of nine targets for 27 yards. He was able to haul in a career-high 77 passes for 851 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games in his final season with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, and Samuel should have a bounce-back year in 2022 if he can just stay healthy. Fantasy managers in standard-sized leagues will want to see Samuel prove it first, though, before they consider adding him off the waiver wire.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Ben Standig

2 months agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel saw two targets in Washington's loss to the Carolina Panthers. The former Buckeye was the recipient of Carson Wentz's first pass of the game, racking up six yards before converting on third down off an eight-yard reception. His 14 total yards weren't much, but it was encouraging to see the 26-year-old back on the field after an injury-riddled 2021. With Samuel also getting work with the first team, he could be a nice speculative pick late in drafts heading into the season.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 months agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel has been practicing with the team at training camp, and his presence outside, in the slot or out of the backfield can create mismatches for the opposing defense. However, the fact that he's being nursed through camp without tackling puts doubt into how he'll get through a full 17-game season. Dyami Brown (leg) missed most of the second week of camp with an apparent leg injury and hasn't shined when he's been on the field. Brown has size and should have a roster spot, but his role appears limited for now, barring an extended absence from Samuel. With rookie Jahan Dotson standing out all offseason and summer, it's hard to envision Samuel being a consistent fantasy producer to begin the 2022 season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Ben Standig

2 months agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel struggled with injuries last season, limiting him to only five games played. Samuel, who has familiarity with head coach Ron Rivera from their time together in Carolina, was seen working on the sideline in practice on Monday. When asked about it, Rivera stated he "had some chances to look at him" and has "some concern about football conditioning." This will allow rookie receiver Jahan Dotson, who the Commanders drafted 16th overall, even more opportunity to gain chemistry with quarterback Carson Wentz. This could also open the door for Dotson to lock down the No. 2 receiver role behind Terry McLaurin. This makes Samuel a difficult player to trust in fantasy drafts, and he's someone to stay away from until we are assured he's healthy.--Josh Constantinou - RotoBallerSource: John Keim - Twitter
Share:
4 months agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel was limited at mandatory minicamp this week because head coach Ron Rivera and the training staff felt like he was in a "good spot" after what he did at organized team activities and last Tuesday's minicamp practice. The Commanders don't want to push Samuel anymore, but Rivera said it wasn't related to Samuel's groin issue. The 25-year-old played in only five games and caught six passes for 27 yards in his first year in D.C. in 2021, but he's fully healthy now and could bounce back in Washington's offense alongside Terry McLaurin and rookie Jahan Dotson, who is getting plenty of work in with new quarterback Carson Wentz with McLaurin holding out.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NBC Sports Washington - Pete Hailey
Share:
4 months agoWashington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson (hamstring) has a slightly pulled hamstring and will sit out of practice on Wednesday, while wide receiver Curtis Samuel will also take a seat after coming in a little sore on Wednesday, according to head coach Ron Rivera. The Commanders are being smart with both players, and Rivera said he's looking forward to seeing Samuel in minicamp next week. Rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. will see some more repetitions with Gibson sidelined. Gibson should be the team's primary back in 2022, but sharing work with J.D. McKissic and Robinson will make him more of a high-end RB2 target in fantasy. Samuel's years was washed away by injuries last year, but he could be a nice low-cost bounce-back target near the end of drafts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NBC Sports Washington - Pete Hailey
Share:
4 months agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel's versatility has been on full display during voluntary organized team activities this year. "Curtis can play everywhere," offensive coordinator Scott Turner said. "We did some of that stuff last year in the limited time he was on the field. I'm just happy for Curtis that he's healthy and he's back to his normal self running around." Samuel was limited to five games in his first year in D.C. due to injuries in 2021, catching just six passes for 27 yards. The 25-year-old is eager to put his frustrating season behind him, and he had 1,200 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in three seasons under head coach Ron Rivera in Carolina. Samuel could reach that potential again now that he's healthy and able to contribute in many different ways on the field.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NBC Sports Washington - Bijan Todd
Share:
4 months agoWashington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel (hamstring) called it "refreshing" to be back at offseason workouts after an injury-plagued 2021 season. Samuel said, "I feel good. I feel fast." Head coach Ron Rivera said that the 25-year-old pass-catcher looked good during workouts last month as well. He was a complete bust in his first year in D.C. in 2021 after signing a three-year, $34.5 million deal, as he played in just five games due to hamstring and groin injuries and finished with six catches for 27 scoreless yards. Samuel could be a bounce-back candidate with better health in 2022, but the presence of rookie Jahan Dotson could complicate things, as well as subpar quarterback Carson Wentz.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NBC Sports Washington - Ethan Cadeaux
