5 mins agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Will Benson left Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox after he took a 97 MPH fastball off of his left elbow. He initially stayed in the game to run the bases but exited once the Reds took the field defensively. Benson will likely head for X-rays after the game to see the extent of the injury. The 26-year-old has struggled mightily at the plate over the past few months and is hitless in his past nine games. He is slashing .192/.287/.379 with eight home runs, 22 RBI, and nine stolen bases this season. He can be considered day-to-day for now, but his fantasy value has already been drastically drained.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: Charlie Goldsmith
Share:
17 mins agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz was 3-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Diaz took rookie right-hander Paul Skenes deep on the first pitch of the game for his sixth home run of the season. The 32-year-old endured a quiet start to the campaign, but he is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak. Overall, Diaz is slashing .271/.331/.384 with 36 RBI and 30 runs scored. He may not repeat last year's career numbers, but he should be a productive source of counting stats and ratios for the remainder of the season.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
27 mins agoPittsburgh Pirates starter Paul Skenes allowed one run on six hits in seven innings of work during Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. He struck out eight batters and issued one walk. The only damage against Skenes came on the first pitch of the game as Yandy Diaz took him deep for a leadoff solo shot. It was the third straight quality start for Skenes and his sixth of the season. The 22-year-old has looked like a bonafide ace every step of the way in 2024. He now owns a 2.14 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 61:8 K:BB through 46 1/3 innings. He is a must-start option anytime he takes the mound and projects to face the Atlanta Braves his next time out.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
36 mins agoPhiladelphia Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez scattered three hits across seven scoreless innings during Sunday's 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He struck out four batters without issuing a walk. It was the eighth quality start of the season for the 27-year-old and improved his record to 5-3. He now owns a 2.67 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 70:24 K:BB through 84 1/3 innings. Most impressively, Sanchez has only allowed one home run in his 15 starts. He is a top-50 fantasy starter heading into a promising matchup against the Miami Marlins next week.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
46 mins agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (knee) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Marte left Saturday's game with right knee soreness, but it does not look like he will need to hit the injured list at this time. The Mets have the day off on Monday which will let Marte get a bit of extra rest. The veteran outfielder is slashing .278/.328/.416 with seven home runs, 30 RBI, 38 runs and 12 stolen bases this season. DJ Stewart is starting in right field in Marte's absence and will bat sixth against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad. Stewart is 0-for-2 in his career against the 26-year-old.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
56 mins agoCleveland Guardians catcher David Fry (elbow) left Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the third inning with right elbow inflammation. There was concern that Fry was dealing with a head injury after he was struck in the head by a Danny Jansen practice swing in the first inning, but that does not appear to be related. Fry is considered day-to-day for now with more information to come. The 28-year-old has been a surprisingly productive fantasy asset this season as he is slashing .312/.429/.526 with eight home runs, 31 RBI and four stolen bases across 55 games. Hopefully he is able to return sooner rather than later.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: Zack Meisel
Share:
2 hours agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins is not in Sunday's lineup as the Brewers look to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of the San Diego Padres. Hoskins has started the past six games and will cede first base duties to 23-year-old Tyler Black, who will bat second. Hoskins has posted a modest .223/.317/.411 slash line through his first 56 games in Milwaukee with 10 home runs and two stolen bases. However, he holds a strong 13.4% barrel rate, which suggests he should see an increase in home runs during the summer. Black recently rejoined the major league roster on June 19 and has posted a .226/.294/.290 line through 10 games this season. He has a difficult matchup ahead of him this afternoon in San Diego right-hander Michael King, who has posted a stellar 1.69 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 9:34 BB:K ratio in his past five starts.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
2 hours agoKansas City Royals outfielder Kyle Isbel (back) will sit for the second consecutive game on Sunday as the Royals look to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers. Isbel was not in Saturday's lineup as well after leaving Friday's game early with lower back tightness. As a result, Dairon Blanco will play center field and bat ninth. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on Isbel's status before Monday's game against the Miami Marlins. Blanco has tallied only three hits and posted a poor .214 AVG in his past six games. He should be faded in DFS on Sunday afternoon as he will face Max Scherzer, who is making his 2024 debut.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
2 hours agoMinnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers is not in Sunday's lineup as the Twins look to clinch a series victory against the Oakland Athletics. Instead, Christian Vazquez will be behind the dish and bat ninth. After posting an incredible .338/.424/.636 line through April, Jeffers has been in a bit of a slump over the past two months and has begun to lose playing time to Vazquez. Jeffers should be expected to be back in the starting nine on Tuesday when the Twins start a three-game set in the desert against the Diamondbacks as the two backstops have begun to alternate starts. Vazquez has tallied five hits in his past five games with an overall .190/.213/.268 slash line. It is best to fade the 33-year-old backstop in DFS this afternoon as he will face Oakland southpaw Hogan Harris, who has posted a 1.66 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and an 8:18 BB:K ratio in his previous four starts.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
3 hours agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (triceps) will sit for the second consecutive game as the Padres look to complete a four-game sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, June 23. Tatis left Friday's game early after getting hit by a pitch and also sat out Saturday's contest. As a result, David Peralta will play in right field on Sunday and bat in the seven-hole. Tatis has had an excellent start to the campaign with a .279/.354/.468 slash line, 14 long balls, and eight swiped bags. He holds a 53.8% hard-hit rate and 13.9% barrel rate, which place him in the top 96th and 91st percentile among all qualified hitters. Peralta has played 24 games this season in San Diego and has posted a poor .220/.328/.260 line with zero home runs. He should be faded in DFS this afternoon as he will face Tobias Myers, who struck out six in four shutout frames in his previous outing.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
3 hours agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar (knee) is in Sunday's lineup as the Padres look to complete a four-game sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, June 23. Profar left Friday's game early with a knee injury and sat out of Saturday's contest. However, the 31-year-old has been cleared to return and will bat in the two-hole. Before the injury, the outfielder was riding a six-game hitting streak and an overall .320/.415/.483 line through 79 games this season. He holds a stellar .297 xBA with a strong 12.9% walk rate and 15.1% K rate. He should remain in your starting lineup every week but is best to fade in DFS this afternoon as he will face Milwaukee right-hander Tobias Myers, who has posted a 0.44 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in his past 20 â…“ frames.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
3 hours agoMilwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. It appears to be a regular rest day for the 26-year-old as he had started the past three games behind the plate. Gary Sanchez will start at catcher on Sunday and bat eighth against Padres right-hander Michael King. Sanchez is slashing .224/.300/.413 with seven home runs, 21 RBI and 18 runs scored this season and is always a threat to go deep. Contreras remains an elite fantasy option for the remainder of the season but should be replaced in lineups for Sunday.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
3 hours agoThe New York Yankees acquired infielder J.D. Davis from the Oakland Athletics for infielder Jordan Groshans and cash considerations on Sunday afternoon. Davis was designated for assignment by the Athletics earlier this week and gives the Yankees some additional depth. The veteran has been relatively mediocre this season as he is slashing .236/.304/.366 with four homers, five RBI and 12 runs scored in 39 games. Landing in New York gives Davis a little more fantasy relevance as he figures to see some playing time with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) sidelined. Nevertheless, he is nothing more than a depth option in the deepest of mixed leagues for the time being.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
3 hours agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) will take live batting practice on Tuesday after he was shut down for the weekend due to wrist soreness. He could be activated off of the injured list as soon as Tuesday if all goes well in the session. Jung went 4-for-17 with five strikeouts during his four-game rehab stint at Triple-A Round Rock. He has been sidelined since fracturing his wrist way back on April 1, but his return seems imminent. Upon activation, Jung will serve as the team's primary third baseman and offer solid power numbers for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old slashed .266/.315/.467 with 23 home runs and 70 RBI across 122 games last season. He should be owned in all fantasy formats once he is back.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com
Share:
3 hours agoPittsburgh Pirates closer David Bednar (side) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday afternoon with left side tightness. He was unavailable for Saturday's game and clearly needs extra time to recover. It is unclear how long he will be sidelined for. Bednar has been more sporadic than normal in 2024 as evidenced by his 5.17 ERA, but he has still converted 16-of-19 save opportunities and produced a 9.19 K/9. Aroldis Chapman should be the main beneficiary in Bednar's absence as he collected the save on Saturday. Chapman owns a 4.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, two saves, 13 holds and 45:27 K:BB this season. He is a worthwhile pickup for fantasy managers that are desperate for saves in the short term.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerSource: Pittsburgh Pirates
