Zach Wilson To Remain Starter For Rest Of The Year
2 years agoNew York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that quarterback Zach Wilson will be the team's starter for the rest of the season, barring injury, because he's a big reason why the team is currently 5-3. Saleh said Wilson's carelessness with the football in the Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots was an outlier. "He's our QB because we think he's going to get better and continue to prove why he's the No. 2 pick," Saleh said. The 23-year-old threw three interceptions, his first picks since his season debut in Week 4, although he also had a season-high 355 passing yards and two touchdowns on 41 attempts on Sunday. Wilson only has three TDs and five interceptions in his five games this year, and if game script allows, the Jets offense will most likely remain run-first moving forward.
