Xander Bogaerts Out Against Giants With Shoulder Injury
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the division-rival San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Bogaerts was pulled from Wednesday's loss to the Giants after dealing with soreness in his surgically-repaired left shoulder, and the Padres are giving him the day off on Thursday while treating him as day-to-day. It's possible the 32-year-old could be back for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. Veteran Jose Iglesias will start at shortstop on Thursday and will hit sixth against Giants left-hander Robbie Ray. The light-hitting Iglesias isn't a recommended DFS sleeper at the shortstop position. The 35-year-old Cuban infielder is still searching for his first long ball of 2025 and is hitting .246 with 13 RBI in 114 at-bats. Iglesias has hit .200 in only five career at-bats against Ray.
