Will Smith Earns $4.225 Million For 2019
Will Smith avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $4.225 million deal. Smith was one of the team's most reliable late-inning relievers last season, posting a shiny 2.55 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 71 strikeouts in 53 innings and 14 saves. The southpaw is likely to enter the 2019 season as the favorite for saves in San Fran (unless he's traded), but the Giants have plenty of other options, including Mark Melancon, Tony Watson and Sam Dyson. Consider Smith a sleeper for saves in the last few rounds.
