Washington Pleased With Alex Smith
4 years agoWashington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera thinks quarterback Alex Smith has successfully completed his journey from a gruesome leg injury to become the team's starter. Smith was 38-for-55 for 390 yards in the narrow Week 10 loss to the Lions. The 36-year-old has two years left on his contract after this season, although releasing Smith next year would be financially feasible. But the veteran's play on Sunday is making Washington consider whether he can be their starter into the future. Second-year signal-caller Dwayne Haskins Jr. was benched early in the season, and Washington thinks he needs to learn how to prepare more under a veteran like Smith. It was nice to see Smith play well in his first start after his serious leg injury, and he'll have a chance to build on his performance with an excellent Week 11 matchup against the Bengals.
