Wander Franco To Play In Olympic Qualifiers
5 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco, the top prospect in baseball entering the 2020 season, plans to play for the Dominican Republic as the country tries to qualify for the Olympics later this month, according to sources familiar with his decision. Phillies outfielder Jose Bautista also plans to play for the Dominican Republic, as well as Diamondbacks infielder Geraldo Perdomo. Franco, 19 years old, has the traits to be a major leaguer right now, but he'll likely start in the minors to begin the season. The switch-hitter is a must-own in dynasty and AL-only leagues and should become fantasy relevant in mixed leagues whenever he is called up to the big leagues, which should be at some point in 2020.
