Trey Sermon Likely To Be Active In Week 2
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Trey Sermon is likely to be active in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles, alongside fellow rookie Elijah Mitchell and JaMycal Hasty. Sermon was a surprise inactive in the season-opening win over the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel said there was an "extra aggressiveness" from Sermon in practice this week in response to him being inactive to start the season. Raheem Mostert is out for the season, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that Sermon will be active for his first NFL game this weekend. Mitchell handled 19 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown, so he'll likely be the backfield leader against Philly. Until we know more about how the 49ers actually plan to utilize Sermon, he'll be a shaky flex play in deeper leagues.
