Tommy La Stella Restarting His Rehab Assignment
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants infielder Tommy La Stella (thumb) is restarting his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday night. La Stella was initially working his way back from a hamstring injury when he fractured his thumb. Because he's been out since early May, the 32-year-old veteran will likely need an extended stay in the minor leagues. La Stella has some pop in his left-handed stick, but he'll likely be more of a bench bat for the Giants once he returns in the second half of the season. The versatile infielder had 16 hits (one homer) in his 68 at-bats (.235 average) before his initial hamstring injury earlier this year. His fantasy value should only extend to NL-only leagues for infield depth.
