Tommy Edman Cools Off With 0-for-5 Performance
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals second baseman Tommy Edman went 0-for-5 on Tuesday night, as the Cardinals beat the San Diego Padres 3-2 in 10 innings for their eighth win in their last 10 games. Edman, who got off to a fast start in April by slashing .300/.395/.486, saw himself cool off considerably in May. Overall, Edman finished May hitting .259/.323/.371 with one home run, 11 RBI and 10 runs. So far this season, Edman is struggling facing breaking balls in particular, having just an xBA of .199 against breaking balls on 159 pitches in 2022. Edman also is showcasing a 27.6% whiff rate on breaking balls this season. For now, fantasy managers will probably feel more comfortable with Edman on their benches in standard leagues, rather than in their everyday lineups.
