Titans Fire Head Coach Mike Vrabel
11 months agoThe Tennessee Titans fired head coach Mike Vrabel on Tuesday, according to sources. Vrabel led the Titans to four straight winning seasons after he was hired in 2018, but the Titans have decided to move on after experiencing back-to-back frustrating seasons the last two years and finishing multiple games under .500 both times. Tennessee started the 2023 season 2-4 before their bye and were never a factor in the AFC playoff race while pivoting from veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill to rookie Will Levis in the middle of the season. The Titans are at a crossroads this offseason. Vrabel is gone and both Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry are unlikely to return as they enter free agency. Vrabel's best season was in 2021, when the team went 12-5 and was the top seed in the AFC. Vrabel won NFL Coach of the Year, but the Titans were eliminated in their playoff opener that year.
