Texans Release Eddie Vanderdoes
4 years agoThe Houston Texans released defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes on Wednesday. The 26-year-old opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns over COVID-19 after playing in three games for the Texans in 2019, collecting eight tackles while playing 78 defensive snaps and two special teams snaps. Vanderdoes was originally drafted in the third round out of UCLA in 2017 by the Raiders, playing in 16 games (13) starts in his rookie season while tallying 18 combined tackles (two for loss) and two QB hits. But he suffered a torn ACL in Week 17 that season and missed all of the 2018 campaign before being released by Las Vegas in 2019. He was due $990,000 in 2021, and his release won't trigger a dead-money hit against the salary cap.
