Steelers Looking To Improve Running Game
4 years agoPittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said the team has had a lull with their running game in recent weeks, as they averaged 136.8 yards on the ground in their first five games, a number that has dropped to 58 yards per game. They had a season-low 44 rushing yards against a bad Bengals run defense in Week 10. "We are not up to snuff right now. We accept ownership for that," Tomlin said. The offensive line has done a good job of protecting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (just 10 sacks taken in 344 dropbacks), but they are struggling to get a push at the line of scrimmage on runs. James Conner is averaging 2.8 yards per carry in his last three games, but he has a great bounce-back opportunity this Sunday against a Jaguars Defense allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Lock him in as an RB1 in a game in which Pittsburgh will likely lean on the run heavily.
