Samaje Perine 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Nothing More than an Insurance Policy
Samaje Perine will begin another stint with the team after agreeing to a two-year, $3.8 million contract in March. The 2017 No. 114 overall pick has made stops in Washington, Miami, Denver, and Kansas City in addition to his time in Cincinnati since being drafted. In 104 regular-season games, he has amassed 1,922 yards off 474 carries and 179 catches for 1,513 yards while totaling 16 touchdowns. Unfortunately, that type of production hasn't made him a routinely dependable option for fantasy managers, although, to be fair, he has had some adequate performances over the years. With that in mind, Perine will do his best to remain involved in an offense that's loaded with talent, specifically, Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins. There's also running back Chase Brown, who doesn't appear to be in any danger of losing his place atop the depth chart. As of now, Zack Moss may be the likeliest running back to be released before the start of the 2025 campaign. However, no matter who remains on the roster behind Brown, including rookie Tahj Brooks, it will likely be difficult for them to get snaps. That's not to say Perine won't have a role, but it's safe to assume the 29-year-old shouldn't be viewed as anything more than an insurance policy for those who select Brown in fantasy drafts.
