The Kansas City Royals are "showing little interest" in trading starting pitcher Seth Lugo, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Kansas City is 51-54 and 4 1/2 games back of a playoff spot in the American League, so they could look to sell off some veteran pieces at the trade deadline. The 35-year-old Lugo has a $15 million player option for the 2026 season, so he could become a free agent at season's end. The veteran right-hander is in the midst of another excellent season. In 113 innings (19 starts), Lugo is 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts. His 4.56 xERA suggests some regression is likely, but Lugo has outpitched his peripherals in each of the last three seasons.--Will Brady
