Royals Not Looking to Trade Seth Lugo
The Kansas City Royals are "showing little interest" in trading starting pitcher Seth Lugo, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Kansas City is 51-54 and 4 1/2 games back of a playoff spot in the American League, so they could look to sell off some veteran pieces at the trade deadline. The 35-year-old Lugo has a $15 million player option for the 2026 season, so he could become a free agent at season's end. The veteran right-hander is in the midst of another excellent season. In 113 innings (19 starts), Lugo is 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts. His 4.56 xERA suggests some regression is likely, but Lugo has outpitched his peripherals in each of the last three seasons.
