Ronald Jones II The Starter In Name Only?
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said earlier this week that running back Ronald Jones II would start in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, but how much stock should fantasy managers put in that statement? Arians also said on his weekly radio show that his top three running backs are "all starters." Based on the Week 1 usage, we shouldn't put too much stock into Jones being announced as the starter for this Sunday. In the win over the Dallas Cowboys, Jones played only 9.2 percent of the offensive snaps, with both Leonard Fournette (64.6) and Giovani Bernard (26.2) ahead of him. He also saw zero targets, while Fournette and Bernard combined for 10. An early fumble could've put Jones in the doghouse, but even so, Fournette and Jones will continue to share time. Bernard is the preferred third-down back. In a game where the Bucs could have a comfortable lead, Jones should see more work and is in play as an RB3/flex for fantasy managers.
