Reiss Knehr To Make Second Career Start In Game 2
3 years agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Reiss Knehr has been recalled from the minors to start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves. He will serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader. This will be Knehr's second career major league start after he allowed two earned runs while walking four and striking out three in 3 2/3 innings in his MLB debut on July 9 against the Colorado Rockies at home. The Friars No. 12 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has natural strikeout tendencies, but he needs to show better control of his offerings to succeed in longer stints as a starter pitcher at the big league level. Knehr had a 3.90 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 46/22 K/BB in 11 starts at Double-A Antonio this year. The 24-year-old will be a pretty shaky streamer in DFS and season-long leagues in his second major league start.
