Rangers Making Push For Josh Donaldson
5 years agoThe Texas Rangers are making an aggressive push for third baseman Josh Donaldson. The Los Angeles Times' Jorge Castillo also reported that the Dodgers, Nationals, Phillies and Braves are pursuing the 2015 American League MVP and three-time All-Star. Donaldson will turn 34 in December and is coming off a rebound season with Atlanta in which he hit 37 home runs with a .900 OPS in 155 games. He's expected to decline his one-year, $17.8 million qualifying offer, which means a team will have to give up a draft pick to sign him in free agency. Along with Anthony Rendon, Donaldson is the biggest free-agent third baseman on the market. Landing in hitter-friendly Texas wouldn't be the worst spot for Donaldson from a fantasy perspective.
