Rams Hope Cam Akers Will Play For Them Again
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams turned down multiple offers for running back Cam Akers before Tuesday's trade deadline and are now working with Akers' agent in hopes that he'll play for them again this season, according to sources. Akers has been inactive the last two games for what the team called personal reasons. Meanwhile, Ronnie Rivers out-carried Darrell Henderson Jr. in the Week 8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The coaching staff hasn't been pleased with Akers in 2022, but they may have no choice but to try to mend fences and reinstall him as their lead back in order to fix a broken offense. In five games in 2022, Akers has 51 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown while catching two passes for 18 yards. The 23-year-old might be worth a pickup in deeper leagues, but it might be foolish thinking to hope that he'll become the clear lead back for this team again.
