The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted pitcher Anthony Solometo out of Bishop Eustace Prep School with the first pick of the second round of the 2021 Draft. After going with a college hitter with the first overall pick, the Pirates looked to bolster their pitching with a high school talent in the second round, as they have high hopes for the 6-foot-3 left-handed pitcher. Solometo throws a fastball in the 90-94 mph range to go along with a slider and changeup, with scouts predicting that he could end up with three above-average pitches in the future. He's the sixth high school pitcher the Pirates have drafted within the first two rounds since 2016, and he could end up becoming part of a solid young core of pitchers to take the field in Pittsburgh in a few years.--MichaelRead More News
